I should be President

So I have this brilliant plan to help with our energy crisis. I think if the government did these three things, gas prices would go down and we could all breath a little easier. Here they are:

1. Pass legislation demanding that we reduce our foreign dependency on oil by 40% over the next 10 years. This will do two things. First, it will immediately cause current oil prices to fall in anticipation of the reduced demand. Second, it will stimulate efforts to find and optimize alternate energy sources.

2. Offer tax credits to anyone driving less than 10,000 miles a year. This could cause an increase in public transportation and car pooling which would in effect decrease demand and thus lower the current oil price.

3. Secretly dig tunnels into the Middle Eastern oil fields and siphon away the crude oil. Ok, this one wasn't too good, but I really think the first two would help.

Mark I'd vote for you. So you've now got the Latino vote covered. I love the tax credit for driving less. I enjoy the bus and trax very much these days and don't necessarily need further coaxing to avoid my car, but it would be nice to see more people enjoy our beautifully air conditioned buses and maybe even pack them like they were micros in Valparaiso. However, we don't need to syphon the middle east, if you didn't already know the US imports more oil from our neighbor to the north Canada, and our neighbor to the south Mexico, than the four countries we import oil from in the middle east combined.

Hmmm, ok so we siphon gas from the Canadians. I actually like that idea even more, and it's probably more feasible since they are closer. It's nice to know that Jaime Garza has such influence in the Latino community. Maybe you should be managing that portion of my campaign?
